Background information on PMIG Inc.
The Project Management Institute of Guyana was registered under the Business Names Act of Guyana in 2007, to provide Project Management Training and Consultancy services to Public and Private Sector Organizations and individuals. In 2017 the business form of the entity was changed and PMIG Inc. was formally incorporated in accordance with the Companies Act of Guyana 1991.
PMIG is intended to be the premier institution for satisfying the need at the national level for professionally trained and competent Project Managers and Consultants. The institute actively promotes awareness of international best practices in the field of Project Management and delivers the highest quality training and consultancy services to its clients and stakeholders. The Institute seeks to align its professional development programs as closely as possible to the principles of Project Management Institute's PMBOK* as well as to those of the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM) and to utilize all opportunities for providing accredited training in the various aspects of Project Management. PMIG Inc. also offers efficient and cost-effective Project & General Management Consultancy services for all categories of organizations. PMIG retains a growing Register of Consultants and offers consultancy services to Private Sector institutions, NGOs, Government and Donor Agencies for planning and executing projects. The Institute is currently established as a Private Company and has been designed with a relevant consultancy organizational structure, overseen by a still-growing Board of Directors. Senior Management and members of the Directorate are expected to be PMPs (Project Management Professionals), even as all consultants will be encouraged to become. The Institute is managed in accordance with the guiding principles of professional ethics and morals being promoted by PMI, and all consultants associated with the PMIG are required to attest to the Institute’s Professional Oath and Code of Conduct. The Head Office of the Institute is registered at Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, where its administration and records supported by up-to-date computer technology are maintained.
The American Academy of Project Management (AAPM) and PMIG Inc. have established a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding, which guarantees the international accreditation of many courses of studies in Project Management and General Management
Currently, PMIG Inc. offers training in various courses that have been tailored to assist CAPM, PMP, and AAPM Certificate aspirants in a graded manner, and the institution is working towards accreditation by PMI (International) as a Certified Training Provider.
